COMMISSION INFO
I am taking writing-related commissions. After we discuss and agree on its details, I will write a story to your specifications.
Commission status
Commission status is currently:
Open, with room on the list. I am accepting commissions!
The current waiting list is:
- Kaye Devin - NEGOTIATNG
- Open!
- Open!
The order commission requests are received is the same order they will be handled.
Send an email to HUSKY AT KJORTEO DOT NET (replacing the at and dot with @ and ., respectively) if you wish to commission me! To make sure I don't accidentally mark your letter as spam, please include the word "Commission" somewhere in its subject. I usually respond to letters fairly quickly. If I seem like I'm not responding, I might be asleep. Check my sleep status.
What you can commission
As stated above, I deal in writing-related commissions, specifically fictional stories. I will write stories of any length and any maturity level (G- to X-rated.) By default, my writings are saved in .doc format, but they can be converted to .odt or .txt upon request.
Some examples of my work:
- To Seek (730 words)
- Seduction (WARNING: Adult content!) (8,011 words)
- Confirmation (WARNING: Adult content!) (17,062 words counting the foreword)
Prices
All prices are in US Dollars.
I am currently charging a flat rate of $5, plus $5 per 500 words. (Thus, a 500-word piece will cost $10, 1000 words will be $15, 1500 words will be $20, and so on.) There is also an extra fee of $1 per 500 words if I determine the work to have difficult content (see below.) This will be negotiated and declared beforehand, before you are charged. I will not include the difficult content fee without prior warning and your consent.
I am currently only accepting PayPal. I will tell you may PayPal address during the course of our negotiations if you commission me.
I reserve the right to change my prices at any time. If we have already agreed on a price for a commission (in other words, you have reached at least the WORKING ON OUTLINE phase in the process outlined below,) any change in price will not affect you. However, people on the waiting list in the INTERESTED or NEGOTIATING phase will be affected by the new price, should they choose to continue the commission. If not, everyone is always allowed to cancel at any time.
Process
Should you wish to commission me, I am currently following a process that goes something like this. Please note that you can cancel at absolutely any time in this entire process, but if it has progressed past a point in which you send me a payment, the money will not be refunded. If you cancel, your name will be removed from the waiting list and those behind you will be promoted.
- If I am accepting commissions and the waiting list has an opening, you send me an e-mail declaring your interest to commission me. I will add your name to the waiting list with the status "INTERESTED."
- If you are not in the #1 position on the waiting list, you will remain on the waiting list until I am done with the people ahead of you, at which point you will be moved up.
- Once you are in the #1 position on the waiting list, we will exchange further communication about what you want to commission, how long it will be, what the price will be, and so on. At this point, I will change the status on the waiting list to "NEGOTIATING."
- Once we have agreed upon an idea, length, and price, I will create a rough outline that will read more or less like a summary of what is supposed to happen in each individual scene. While I am working on this, your status on the waiting list will be "WORKING ON OUTLINE."
- Once the outline is complete, I will send it to you. You can make as many suggestions and requests for changes as you wish.
- Once we have an outline that we both agree on, you will send me HALF the agreed-upon price, and I will begin work on the commission once I have received your payment. Once I receive payment and begin work, your status on the waiting list will be "WORKING ON FULL COMMISSION."
- Once I have completed the commission, I will send you the first 10% of it--for example, in a 3,000-word piece, I will send you the first 300 words. This is more or less just proof that the commission exists.
- You will send me the OTHER HALF of the agreed-upon price. Once I receive it, I will send you the full version of the commission. The commission process will be complete, your name will be removed from the waiting list, and those behind you will be promoted.
Will/will not depict
In general, I will gladly depict anything from a G- to an X-rating.
I will not create any work involving fan- or franchise-based characters (Pokemorphs, etc.) or involving any characters that do not belong to you and are used without permission. I will only create works with 100% original characters, and I require full written consent from all owners of all characters to be depicted.
For adult works, consider my own list of preferences, viewable on the "Kinks, Fetishes, Preferences" field of this page. (WARNING: Descriptions of adult content!) I am hesitant to set any iron-clad rules (this is more or less what the negotiation phase is for,) but as a general assumption, please do not ask me to do any of the particularly extreme content listed in the particularly unfavorable lists.
I have an extra fee of $1 per 500 words when I determine a story falls under my difficult content threshold--that is, while it's nothing to which I actually object, it poses an extra challenge to me for the sheer sake of being harder than usual to actually write about. One example of something that could trigger this is anything set in space, as I personally find the space premise to be somewhat silly, and would have to work harder than usual to make a story about it to my own satisfaction. If I feel something will trigger the difficult content fee, I will tell you in advance during the negotiation phase, at which point we can either agree to the fee or try to come up with modifications to the idea--this is what negotiating is for, after all.
Turnaround time and your rights
I do not work on a set deadline, and cannot promise a commission by any particular date. Furthermore, I do have a somewhat busy day job, and cannot always promise to work as fast as you or I would like. However, I can promise that you will not ever be forgotten, that I will work on your commission whenever I can, and that I absolutely will not put your commission on hold to do any other major project. I may reserve the right to do something minor (a quick doodle of one of my characters, etc.) if it is indeed quick and will not interfere with anything. However, as far as major projects go, even if I want to pursue my own, I will simply change the general taking commissions status to closed, and take a break between your commission and the next person in line to work on them. Once a commission has been started, it is sacred.
Furthermore, I give you the right to ask for status updates absolutely whenever you want. I believe proper communication is absolutely vital to the commissioning process. No one wants to feel like they gave money to someone who then disappeared. Send me an e-mail whenever you see fit. Ask for a progress update, ask for another, keep asking, and I promise never to mind. The absolute worst thing that could happen if you ask me too often is that I might not have a lot of progress to report if it hasn't been that long. Still, I am and will always be happy to write back.
